Pet count sets essential quantities. Floor area shapes layout and optional extras; it does not determine whether a home is suitable for a pet.

How we choose quantities & estimates
We suggest one litter tray per cat plus one extra. Multi-cat homes also need multiple separate feeding, resting and scratching resources. Existing safe furniture, blankets and bowls can fulfil some functions. Our area bands below 40 m², 40–79 m² and 80 m² or more are layout categories, not veterinary thresholds. Larger or multi-floor homes get one optional extra resting suggestion.
Basic options use editable planning allowances in each currency, not shop quotes or converted prices. Branded alternatives use dated retailer prices where available. Food, litter refills, veterinary care and other ongoing costs are excluded. A Must-have stamp refers to the function, not a specific brand.
